I spent 2 nights in Las Vegas in the Excalibur hotel. A fairytale castle-themed resort and casino on the Strip. This hotel is awesome! I reached Las Vegas around 4 pm. I wanted to check in first but the row was huge so I decided to leave my luggage in the store room and discover the hotel and Strip. The first hour in Las Vegas was quite overwhelming to be honest. Everything is sooo big and crowded. But once you get used to it, you realize it’s probably the most amazing place you’ll ever visit.
New York – New York Hotel
The strip is known for its concentration of resort hotels and casinos. The best part is that you’re allowed to enter all the hotels. After buying some shirts at the Hard Rock shop I visited the New York-New York hotel. It was really impressive, a flashback to my New York trip a few months earlier. You also find Vegas’ most iconic ride there and of course I was in for a ride! A ride on the roller coaster costs 15 dollars and gives you a wonderful view over the city, especially at night.
Las Vegas is also known for all its shows. I really wanted to see a Cirque du Soleil show for the first time in my life so I bought tickets for the KA show at the NY-NY hotel. You get a lot of discount when you mention you stay at a MGM resort. Therefore I ‘only’ payed 116 dollar instead of 160.
The Bellagio hotel is probably the most famous and praised hotel in Las Vegas. For me it was a disappointment. Not that it’s not beautiful but it’s just too classy for me I guess. The Fountains of Bellagio on the other hand, swept me off my feet. They’re located right in front of the hotel and there’s a show every 15 minutes.
Another great hotel on the strip is Paris. The hotel has some cozy French restaurants and a half-size Eiffel Tower. Just like the original Eiffel Tower in Paris, this one can be visited by those who want to see a panoramic view of the city.
The Venetian is my favorite hotel on the Strip. It’s just stunning with all the mural and ceiling paintings and canals. You can take a gondola ride inside or outside for 29 dollars per person. The hotel also offers a huge mall and loads of restaurants.
Las Vegas sign
Everybody knows the famous Las Vegas sign and everybody wants a picture with it, right? Okay maybe not everybody but at least the majority of the people want it. The sign is located at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South. It’s pretty far away from the hotels on the strip so I took my car to get there. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the sign in real life but I also discovered I was not the only one who wanted this picture.
Another thing on my Las Vegas to-do-list was shooting. The most famous shooting range is Las Vegas Gunstore but the prices were absurdly high. After some research I discovered Discount firearms & ammo. You can already shoot with a pistol and machine gun for 90 dollars and the employers are very nice people. I really loved the shooting, it was very thrilling.
Afterwards it was time to go to the Cirque du Soleil show at the MGM Grand hotel. The theater hall was gorgeous and the show was impressive from beginning till end. After the show I walked down the Strip. Again?! Yes, I promise you’ll never get enough of it.
I intended to leave to my next destination in the morning but I had planned a helicopter flight above Las Vegas at 8 pm. Actually, I had planned the flight the day before but I forgot about that when I bought the tickets for the show. I was very lucky that the company, 5 Stars Helicopter Tours, was prepared to replace my flight without any fuss. To fill my day I went to the Las Vegas Premium outlets. A paradise for people who love brands as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Guess,…
I reached the airport at 7.30 pm. After checking in there was time for an apéro, included in the price. The flight itself was awesome! It’s pretty cool to see your hotel from the sky. After the 15 minute flight I drove to my next hotel in Saint George, Utah.
No other place in the world has ever impressed me as much as Vegas did. This place is crazy in a very good way. I should recommend staying in Vegas for 2 or 3 days. And for the people who were thinking about skipping Vegas, DON’T!
Next destination? Zion National Park
